I like Facebook myself, because it means that I can send hybrid forum-emails out to people, which can have multiple recipients and all those recipients can see and respond to each other's replies. Really good for organising band practices. The requests are quite annoying though, I might complain about them on my...Facebook page. However, adding people to your friends list to just boost how many friends you have it rather pointless, I agree.
Argh, Twitter is the dumbest thing ever! Texting + the internet = horrible ramifications for our English language.
