A large company, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.
On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning on a wall. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business.
He walked up to the guy leaning against the wall and asked, "How much money do you make a week?"
A little surprised, the young man looked at him and replied, "I make $400 a week. Why?"
The new CEO then handed the guy $1,600 in cash and screamed, "Here's four weeks pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!"
Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?"
From across the room came a voice, "Pizza delivery guy."
Have you ever considered what the literal definition of amuse is? Let us dissect the word in question:

Therefore, the literal definition is that to be amused is to not think.

The word ambiguous is derived from the Latin ambiguus "having double meaning, shifting, doubtful," which in turn comes from ambigere "to dispute about," literally "to wander" from ambi- "about" and agere "drive, lead".
Sir Thomas More seems to have first used it in English in 1528, but ambiguity (from Latin ambiguitatem) is first recorded circa 1400.
The post title of doppeldeutig is not ambiguous. Well, actually it is. That is the German word for ambiguous. And there is no ambiguity surrounding that fact.
With the new school year starting on Monday, I thought it would be interesting to find out what everyone is doing in the way of study or work this year.
I will continue with homeschooling; physics, calculus, and English will constitute my main focus, while I will also study other subjects like history and geography, with perhaps the odd Correspondence School course thrown in. I am also looking for a way to earn money, and will probably take on a part time job. And of course my 'outdoor education' will forge ahead and I am hoping to assimilate some new skills this year.

An Englishman is being shown around a Scottish hospital. At the end of the tour he is shown into a ward with a number of patients who show no obvious signs of injury.
He goes to examine the first man he sees, and the man proclaims "Fair fa' yer honest sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin' race!"
The Englishman, somewhat taken aback, goes to the next patient, who immediately launches into "Some hae meat, and canna eat, and some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat and we can eat, and sae the Lord be thankit."
The next patient sits up and declaims "Wee sleekit cow'rin tim'rous beastie, O what a panic's in thy breastie! Thou need na start awa sae hasty, wi' bickering bl'attle. I wad be laith to run and chase thee, wi' murdering prattle."
"Well" says the Englishman to his Scottish colleague "I see you saved the psychiatric ward for the last".
"Nae!" the Scottish doctor corrects him "This is the Critical Burns Unit."
My apologies for the lack of material posted on this blog in recent times.
Over Christmas we sojourned at our Grandparents' farm up in Dargaville, and for a brace of days after New Year's we visited friends in Ruakaka. Upon our arrival home we immediately embarked upon the process of preparing our house for exterior painting, and since then we have assiduously worked towards the completion of the project.
All the above is just to explain the absence of posts in the last couple of weeks. There should be one forthcoming soon.
